There’s nothing like a good quality face mask to instantly make you feel super Zen.
They are a proven stress reliever so it’s no surprise that more and more of us have been using them for a quick beauty fix this year.
Whether you want to work on your glow-up or banish a disastrously timed breakout, the main goal of a 10/10 face mask is to deliver potent ingredients directly to your skin and spectacular results, fast.
That’s why many masks are only advised to be left on between 15-20 minutes. But just like all good things in life, it’s easy to overdo it.
So, we need to make sure we don’t accidentally wonder into the over-masking danger zone.
First things first, always, ALWAYS follow the instructions.
- If your mask specifically advises to use it 1-2 times a week, it’s best not to go rogue and use it every day.
- Start out slow with a weekly fix before you up it to two masks when you are feeling extra bougie and like the idea of having obnoxiously glowy skin. This will give your skin the chance to breathe and actually reap the benefit from each application. And of course, sticking to the rules will ensure your masking moments remain a ‘me time’ novelty in your regular skincare routine.
- And finally, don’t be fooled into thinking that leaving a mask on longer than recommended will result in double the results. It can actually have an adverse effect and strip your skin, which defeats the purpose of why you’re masking in the first place.
